Can you get free stuff and promote it and that be a collaboration? Yes of course you can, but there are some things that you need to be aware of before you do that.
Look there is nothing wrong with accepting gifts or even accepting companies that send you stuff to try and review if you like it. When you "end up the creek" is when you blur the lines between genuine interest in the item and just wanting them to keep coming in for nothing.
